Hello to all you magical Disney fans out there. Here I go with a Disney Blog from the perspective of an Aussie living down under and everything you will ever need to know, and some stuff you don’t but is just fun to know, about planning, booking and having a magically amazing time at any Disney trip, Disney park, cruise, adventure you choose.
What is my story you ask.
Well Once Upon A Time. LOL. I wish. Wouldn’t it be awesome to be part of a Disney story that started once upon a time.
Anyway, my story. Well, a few years ago, back in the day, it was coming up to my sweet 16th wedding anniversary. As luck would have it, the family trip we had planned to a beautiful beach front hotel in an amazing part of the world was not to be, due to many reasons. So, fate intervened and we locked in a trip to Disney at the drop of a hat. Well, little did we know that this would then be the start of an almost 2 year adventure down the rabbit hole.
As you can tell I am a father. Of 3 in fact. 2 of my children are special needs and 1 of those require a lot of information before doing anything to curb his anxiety levels.
This culminated in us having to deep dive into each area of the trip from plane flights to transport, location of the hotel and of course what Disney could accommodate. We had weekly family meetings to review each part of the holiday. What the plane would be like, what we would do on the plane. What time the plane would go. How long it would take. All the way through what park we would be at and at what time, on what day and what time we would go on each ride and what restaurant we would eat at and at what time and what we would eat.
This was a huge but amazing exercise. We were able to see each aspect of the Disney experience. What each restaurant had to offer. The location of each of them in the park and of course as we had limited time, what is the best way to get around the parks with kids so we get to see what we want to and not miss out.
I enjoyed this process so much as I got to learn everything I could possibly know about Disney. What they offer, what they can accommodate for with special needs kids and allowed me to be in complete control when in the parks. Where everything is located, when we would eat and where we needed to be to eat etc. I love being in control and the more control you have the better really. It also helped the whole experience so much smoother. I had plans for each of the kids, a book to follow along the day with and check things off and add pictures and favourite photos etc and even a special surprise each day.
I had so much fun planning and discovering Disney that when I came back I signed up for The college of Disney knowledge and got certified as a Disney vacation planner to help others navigate through the rabbit hole that is a Disney vacation.
