Travelling with special needs can be challenging enough but when it comes to crowds and lines it can add even more anxiety but Disney do come to the party in this area. You need to know about Disability Access Service (DAS) Disneyland.
Disney can be a very busy place at times resulting in quite long lines for some of the major attractions. This could mean waits of over an hour or more in close proximity to many others in a line that does not move quickly at all.
For this, in some cases, Disney can offer the DAS pass. This is a free service offered to those guests who may need more space when managing large crowds due to mobility issues or struggle in close proximity to others. This pass will allow guests to book a return time to most attractions in the park. Booking a return time allows guests to select an attraction they would like to experience and based on current wait times they can join a virtual queue. For instance if the guest would like to experience the Star Tours attraction the guest can simply select this in the My Disneyland App. If the current wait time for the ride is 30 minutes the guest will be offered a return time within the next 30 minutes.
The guest can then choose to take their time making their way to the attraction or get a snack or simply wait off to the side until the wait time has been completed. The guest will then be offered the option to skip the queue and join the queue towards the front of the queue. This will reduce wait times and the need to wait in traditional queues in close proximity to other guests. There is also no time expiry on this wait time. If your return time is in 30 minutes, you can return to the ride and skip the queue anytime after this. So if you get distracted in a shop or sit down to eat there is no need to rush. Your spot will be waiting for you when you are ready.
Disability Access Service (DAS) Disneyland is a free service offered to all guests. The guest will be required to complete an interview with the Disney Team. This can be done ahead of time up to 60 days prior the day of your visit or can also be completed in person at the kiosk in front of the park. You can find more information here. The team will then determine if this service can be offered or if alternative arrangements can be made. The DAS pass will be applied to the guest and up to 3 other guests on the same booking allowing all 4 guests to experience the attraction together. The guest with the DAS pass will always need to be in attendance and sign into the attraction first before being joined by the remaining 3 guests.
